Day 23 – Running again…and deciding it’s not Winter yet!

Having cycled back from the station and felt a serious nip in the air, I made the mistake of assuming it was cold enough to be wearing a base layer and running tights this evening. It was not! At least the base layer was short sleeved, but it was still far too warm for it.

I’ve been remarkably busy at work the last few days and so haven’t had time to put my thoughts down as I’d like to, sorry for the late posts.

This evening’s run was about pace. Sort of. It started slow but I decided that despite a couple of days running in a row, I needed to pick up the pace and push myself a bit. I felt tired, but became determined to clock a sub 7 average, whatever the mileage. Turned out to be 6:51min/mile over 5 miles. Good enough considering the way I feel at the moment.

We’re only two and a half weeks off the second marathon now. I’m probably going to aim for about 3:45 and see what happens. This one is about getting round and I’m treating it like a training run, albeit a very long one!

Once Luton is out of the way, it’s just a couple of weeks, until we’re off to Lisbon so I’m not planning anything special at all for Luton. I’d rather clock something reasonably good in Lisbon I think. We’ll see how it goes…

Lastly, my good friend James from wrote an article in the Metro today. You can read it here, it’s a very informative piece on minimalist running shoes and barefoot running. Enjoy!
